Many of my sharpie pieces are made from improvisation - actually the majority of them are. I often don’t plan a piece, but simply move and weave my sharpie pen around the paper. Sometimes drawing shapes, people and animals, other times writing words or drawing doodles.
On occasions my sharpies are traced and stencilled but it’s rare for them not to be free hand. I find free-hand to be more therapeutic. This piece is another example of how a design began with a dot in the centre of the page and then evolved into a night sky filled with stars and a solo flyer.
